Nestle pulling out of McCloud, CA
Yep, it’s true: Years after the company proposed building a bottling plant and pumping spring water from this tiny mountain town, Nestle has decided to withdraw from the project (it’s building a bottling plant in Sacramento instead). Congratulations to those who fought so long and hard against what they considered an economically unfair deal (negotiated behind closed doors), a threat to the town’s rural character, and insufficiently vetted in regard to environment impact. You can read all about it here, at the Mount Shasta Herald, and at Tom Chandler’s unstoppable blog, StopNestleWaters.org
